Dennis Bergkamp

Dennis Bergkamp was born on 10 May, 1969 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Bergkamp in his fabulous football career has played for great teams in Europe namely Ajax, Inter Milan and Arsenal.

Bergkamp played mostly as supporting striker. He had got quick vision for goals. His awareness and deft, pinpoint pass made mockery of tight defense while creating easy goal scoring opportunity of his teammates. His ball control and wide range of passing made him developed a perfect partner with his Arsenal mate Henry. The two produced loads of goal for the gunners landing the Gunners many silverwares.

Bergkamp has finished third in FIFA World player of the Year twice. Bergkamp started to play for Ajax at the age of 17. He played with Ajax for few years and then joined Inter Milan. After just 2 seasons with the Milan team he joined Arsenal. He played with Arsenal for ten years, where he retired scoring 87 League goals in 315 appearances.
His international was also promising but he never won anything with his national team. The most closest he got to win a trophy was a semifinal finish in World cup 1998 and Euro 2000. He scored 37 goals in 79 appearances for the Oranje (Dutch).

One notable thing about Bergkamp was his fear for flying. This fear gave rise to a nickname for him as Non-flying Dutchman. His other nicknames are ‘Dennis the Menace’, ‘Iceman’, ‘the Dutch Master’, ‘Bergy’ and ‘Beavis’.
